Myron Beck-Artist & Photographer Through his paintings, photo illustrations & photography, Myron Beck inspires us to embrace the beauty in the people we see, the environments in which we thrive, and the diverse cultures that enrich our lives. A native of Nebraska and graduate of the Art Center of Design in Pasadena, California, over the course of more than 30 years Myron Beck has established himself as an award-winning advertising photographer specializing in food, still life and product imagery. Myron constantly seeks to expand his subject matter, and his work expanded to vast life-style award-winning portfolio of people, animals, and landscapes. In addition to a productive advertising and commercial photography endeavor, Myron has spent decades documenting and photographing Western culture. The traveling, fieldwork, and adventures across the Western United States has given him hundreds of thousands of photos and reference material to draw from and create images that speak to the human spirit. Myron is now focusing his passion of the western culture & subjects, to use those images of inspiration for his oil paintings & photo-illustrations to create stunning western art. Myron is known for his dramatic lighting, with a painterly quality that reflects inspiration and emotional moods touching both mind and soul. Beyond his commercial photo work, Myron has spent more than three decades passionately documenting the unmatched scenic beauty of the western United States and the people who live, work and call it home. It was during his early exploration of Southern Utah that he befriended the Spilsbury family, who for generations ranched the dramatic high country bordering Zion National. Engrossed by a Western family lifestyle that is richer and more beautiful than anything he had ever experienced, Myron began a long-term multi-media project to document this cherished and now disappearing American way of life. His goal is to showcase the photos, paintings, photo illustrations in galleries and museums, enhanced by a book documentary film, and online resources. Myron’s ultimate vision is to shed light on and provide historical reference about an iconic way of life that might otherwise be lost by telling the multi-generational story of the Spilsbury family. It’s with this intention that Myron believes his imagery and story telling will provide future generations the opportunity to look back at a unique moment in western culture – and reflect upon its future. “The Spilsbury family heritage has shown me the beauty and richness of the Western lifestyle. The time spent rounding up cattle and horses each fall and spring and traveling the remote back country of this beautiful, colorful, and spiritual land will be forever branded in my mind. It’s those wonderful and timeless stories and visuals that I want to share with future generations.” “30 years ago, I was inspired by the great photographer Ed Curtis, and how he believed he needed to document the Native American Indians and their vanishing way of life. The Western ranching lifestyle will never vanish, but it is hard to sustain and the old ways of ranching are continuing to change. I wanted to capture those “WESTERN VISIONS.” In addition to his skill as a photographer, Myron has in recent years drawn on those strong visuals to create a stunning portfolio of Western paintings and photo illustrations. He resides In La Crescenta, California, with his wife, Mary, and their two daughters, Haleigh and Morgan.
